Samedi 25 mars, le Tavini a tenu son 40ème congrès, au motu ovini de Fa'a'a. Une occasion pour le parti d'annoncer qu'il ne soutiendra aucun candidat à l'élection présidentielle. Le parti d'Oscar Temaru s'abstiendra donc de voter.
Le Tavini a également profité de ce congrès pour annoncer ses candidats officiels aux élections législatives : Tina Cross, Moetai Brotherson et Richard Tuheiava.
